Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering and Technology has been established in the year 2008 with robust Basic Science and Humanities department with excellent infrastructure facilities. Its laboratories are fully equipped with instruments for conducting experiments as prescribed by JNTUK KAKINADA guidelines and syllabus. The Department of Basic Science and Humanities stands for imparting essential qualities in engineering and technology. The technology without human qualities is just like a coin without head. It provides a harmonious nature in acquiring knowledge from engineering education as well as our surroundings. It provides the social awareness and enriches good communication skills among the students. There is a scope for exceptional students to perform modern experiments beyond the syllabus. In English discipline it possesses an air conditioned well furnished language laboratory with all necessary amenities. In chemistry discipline advanced instruments like Nephelometer, pH meter, Flash point and Fire point apparatus, Red wood viscosity meter; in Physics Hall effect apparatus, Planck's Constant instrument, Seebeck & Pitier experiment boards, Numerical Aperture and OFC are available in addition to all prescribed experiments. The need for basic sciences in the engineering courses is emphasized and focused which prepares the student for higher courses in main stream engineering. The department includes Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry, Mathematics, and Communication English. Professional writing and personality development was undertaken to prepare the students pursuing higher courses. The Basic Science and Humanities courses cover around 37% of the total credit and are the common tool of all branches of engineering. Also one of the faculties of the department is pursuing research in Waste water management. Teachers of the department are very experienced having two to thirteen years of engineering teaching experiences
